Legend of Korra Book 3 Finale

One of my favoritest shows everrrrr and certainly the best animated show on tv (or in this case online) had its season 3 finale today.  The animation was superb as per usual and the season was wrapped up pretty nicely leaving no loose ends.  The most interesting thing about this season to me was the noticeably darker direction than from previous seasons (books).  The level of violence was upped to the point where I had to remind myself that it's a tv show on a kids network lol The series as a whole and even it's predecessor, Avatar: The Last Airbender, always had adult sensibilities (which is a big part of the reason they're so great), but now it's more blatant.

Case in point the scene where the Beifong sisters Suyin and Lin were taking on the combustion bender chick, P'Li.  Combustion bending, a subset of fire-bending, allows for super concentrated explosive energy blasts projected from an eye tattoo on the forehead.  Lin distracts P'Li by earth bending several boulders at her, which she easily blasts into smithereens (first time I've ever typed that word out lol).  Lin gets knocked down and right before P'Li delivers the finishing...blast as it were, Su'yin metal-bends her chest piece around the head of P'Li.

My reaction: Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!??!?!

Such a satisfying ending for such a wretched character lol All in all, it was a pretty fantastic season.  The network really needs to get it together though, because the way they aired the show was just downright disrespectful.  Little to no promotion for the season before it aired, 2 episodes a week, then yanking the show off the air halfway through the season and putting the remaining episodes online? The show deserves better than that.  Ahhh, well c'est la vie.

Other scenes of note:

It's a bird, it's a plane its......Zaheer flying???! Whaaaaaaaat??

Korra in the avatar state vs. Superman Zaheer.  Very reminiscent of Aang vs Fire Lord Ozai

And finally, Jinora receiving her tattoos and becoming a full fledged air-bending master.  She looks just like Aang!!!

Oh! and my favorite quote of the entire Avatar series came from this season:

"When you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality."

Greetings world of the interwebs!

Here I will post random thoughts and ideas I happen upon in the course of my journey towards marine biology superstardom (whatever that is).  Peppered with the occasional writing prompt and/or short story that so often randomly pop into my head lol

Assuming the are people out there who give a damn, I'll continue posting lol

Thanks!
